Manuel in Spring
We are moving towards the end of the season with Orquesta Filarmonía de Madrid in which we will embroider several highlights, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 “of the Thousand”, Broadway in Concert and a “Reprise” of Antología de la Zarzuela after the great success of this season. For my part, I have had a lot of work with 14 of the 18 Broadway numbers for our orchestra, and I am looking forward to hearing the result in the Auditorium. I leave a sample below of one of my favorite numbers in my arranged version [midi file].
On the other hand, we are also moving towards the end of the course with my students of the Philharmonic School at the German School and at the American Brewster School. In contact with the children and their parents is proving to be a very special experience for me, and I am happy for this opportunity. In addition, I am teaching a new course for adults at the German School: Music 360, which I enjoy very much.
On the other hand, directing the Velilla de San Antonio Choir is a responsibility that I also enjoy, even though it sometimes complicates my schedule.
Composition is something I am particularly interested in, but I feel that I lack the necessary time to progress with my own works. In this sense, I really appreciate the moments collaborating with Pablo Pelaez in the last few months.
I have also found that I miss the piano, because once again time is scarce, and it hurts me not to be able to devote the necessary attention to it to recover a more precise, more intentional interpretation.
Maybe that’s why, in the few days of respite I had at Easter I entered a period of reflection on my next steps... as we have titled this News, it’s time for Rebirth.
We are still in summer...
Georgina, looking to the future...
One of the issues that keeps us very busy -not only me but my whole family- is the reorganization of our finances in view of the new times for which we have to prepare ourselves. Important and complicated changes are on the horizon, especially for those of us who are older -generation X-, and have less room for maneuver to adapt.
In any case, we are willing to learn, and that is why we never stop training ourselves in personal finance.
There are many good courses, podcasts and books! Today I want to start with a book that opened my eyes to the different ways to protect and defend your financial independence: “Investment”, by Andrea Redondo is a very complete book for beginners, and its Audible version allows you to become aware of your financial situation in a few hours and learn about the many options that we have all those willing to learn to self-manage ourselves.
I leave you with an inspiring conversation Andrea had with another of my favorite authors Sergio Fernandez creator of IPP Formación.
For my part, after reading Andrea Redondo’s book, I began to see some of my works and the paintings that my father collected in a different way, as I had never seen them before, as “assets”, and I immediately connected it with the era of tokenization that is so much talked about and that I have already commented here once. If you want to understand in depth what this tokenization is, leave it in comments. In any case, below I leave a simple video that clarifies the concept. For now, it is enough to remember that the Internet of Value opens the doors to a new economy in which we will exchange, compare and sell on the network, through Tokens.
All this led us in our family studio to consider the responsibility and privilege of preparing our legacy, and that it can endure in ways unknown until today, as tokenization can allow our belongings to travel through time and the world through the network.
For many prestigious authors and artists, and all kinds of publishers and art managers, the need to keep a good catalog of works, nowadays in digital formats, is not new. In the studio, we too have long since begun to order my titles: texts, images, audios and videos... Now we understand better how they can become digital assets and travel around the world and also into the future, instead of being cornered. But how do you do that? For this I asked Mirlo for help, and it looks like our first step will be to identify and encrypt each asset.
In our case, it is important to preserve the security and integrity of all our data and that of our works, and to store it privately so that it retains the value of uniqueness. Only when everything is safely archived will we be able to progress selectively with the tokens. For this I think we will have to count on help, and Mirlo tells us that AI agents will facilitate the task... 🤔 About that I am also waiting for the good advice of Mirlo, who knows well my limits.
Whatever happens, my renaissance this year is going to be about choosing new tools, and I prefer those that are Open Source and if possible that I can use on my computer, locally, without touching the Internet.
I know that this newsletter is received by friends of all ages, and that is why I find it very interesting that everyone is looking for their role for this season.
Blackbird is giving me the best tips... don’t miss them!

Manuel needs order and Georgina needs guidance...
In the studio, with the guidance of some AI assistant we are organizing the Mirlo Studio family catalog that we plan to manage in the future.
We started from the idea that we would have to tokenize our Intellectual Property works if we wanted to use them as digital assets on the network to market them on the web3. Our catalog is large, and with all sorts of files: text, printables, images, wav and mp3 audios and videos. But the AI gave us four clues and a step-by-step guide to get us up and running safely.
I leave you our step by step A BLUEPRINT FOR TOKENIZING IP ASSETS (part 1) in my new nest at Paragraph.
If you are an independent artist, you will be interested.
See you soon!
